Tash-Rabat
The unique architectural monument Caravan-Saray Tash-Rabat is located in the rather picturesque Kara-Koyun gorge of the Naryn region, which is 110 km south of the city of Naryn, at an altitude of 3200 m above sea level. Tash-Rabat is one of the main architectural landmarks of Kyrgyzstan, which dates back to the 15th century.
Tash-Rabat is a 35.7×33.7 m rectangle with several domes. The structure consists of a large central hall and 31 rooms located around the hall and topped with 20 domes and 11 vaults.
In the Middle Ages, on the Great Silk Road, the Tash-Rabat fortress served as a caravanserai, that is, it was an inn for merchants and travelers. Caravan-Saray Tash-Rabat was on the trade route, which in those distant times connected the Chui and Fergana valleys with Kashgar. For hunters and pastoralists, this stone building was an unusual structure, and ancient legends were associated with it.
